Karen
*Karen and Felicia found their forever home with awesome people! *
Felicia and Karen came into Toronto Animal Services as strays. They’re young pigs, so it’s possible someone acquired them from a pet store, realized that guinea pigs are a lot of work, and quickly abandoned them outdoors. Thankfully they were brought to safety before any harm could come to them. TAS had Felicia and Karen spayed (as they do all their guinea pigs) and they reached out to us for help when they continued to receive more guinea pigs than they had room for. We were happy to take this wee pair in, when we had an open foster home for them.
Shortly after their rescue, Felicia and Karen had a check-up with the wonderful Dr. Davis at Lincoln County Humane Society Animal Clinic. Dr. Davis gave the pigs a clean bill of health, and they’re now ready to find their forever home! As guinea pigs do best in pairs or groups, we are asking that Felicia and Karen be adopted as a pair.
Like most guinea pigs, Felicia and Karen’t aren’t thrilled about being picked up, and will find the best hiding spots in their enclosure to avoid it. But if you’re patient and gentle, they’ll settle and sit quietly for pats and scritches behind their ears. Their perfect adopters would be someone who will provide them the large enclosure space they require (see below) and someone who has time and the patience it will take to allow Felicia and Karen to become more comfortable with being handled. Because of their fearful nature, Felicia and Karen would not be a good fit for a home with small children.

Guinea pigs need much more room than the typical pet store guinea pig cages offer. Here are some websites that have great examples of the type of cages pigs can live happily in, so that they have lots of room to move around and explore:
