Squash
** Update July 14th/15 *
Sad news from Trouble and Squash’s adopters today. Almost one year ago, they lost Trouble, and today, Squash has passed away after being ill for a short time.
From Trouble and Squash’s adopters:
“Today we had to make the incredibly difficult decision to release our sweet boy Squash to the light. I cannot even begin to express the anguish that I am feeling right now. I don’t know if my heart will ever fully recover from this loss. I never expected this day to come so soon. I cannot say I would’ve ever been ready for this day.
Our home will never be the same without his incredibly gentle and loving soul. I will miss the special moments of him jumping into my arms the moment I walked through the door. He was a huge part of our family and truly one of a kind. Anyone who ever met him can completely understand where I am coming from.
He touched and won over the hearts of everyone he came into contact with. He even managed to win over the hearts of those that claimed they were not “cat people.” He had a personality that people could just not resist. Even the vet described him as being such a gentleman during his last stay there.
Squash, I know Denny and Keene will miss you and your backyard antics, jumping over them like a spring, showing them how fun outside can be. Hairy will miss being your little shadow, trying to be just like you, and I’m sure Trouble will be happy to be with his brother once again.
I am so grateful we were able to bring you home after your stay in the hospital for lots of love and cuddles and special treats. There will never be another that could fill those big mittens of yours.
Thank you to my beautiful wife you held him in her arms as he passed, just as he would like. Thank you to my lovely Mom who never fails to be there through our tough times. Thank you to Deanna for being such an amazing friend and learning how to give Squash his medications for when we were away.
May you suffer no longer. Rest in peace my little love bug ❤❤❤❤❤ you will forever be our special little angel.”
Trouble and Squash found themselves left at Hamilton Animal Control after their owner was hospitalized. Ladybird rescued them from there and placed them into a foster home. Trouble had a bit of a weight issue…okay, a lot of a weight issue, and was put onto a strict diet plan to help him shed some pounds. In a few short months, this guy went from only being able to take a few steps before having to lay down, to walking without a problem, and even doing stairs! Trouble’s foster family did a wonderful job caring for them. It wasn’t long before Trouble and Squash wormed their way into their foster family’s hearts, and they made the decision to adopt them forever. We’re so thankful the foster family was willing to take on a challenge for their first fosters, and even more thankful that they decided to adopt them and love them forever!
