Patton
* After four happy years as a permanent resident, sweet Patton passed away in the loving arms of his forever foster family. When his physical and cognitive health issues got to be too much, Patton told his family he was ready, and they loved him right until the end.
We want to thank Patton’s forever foster family for taking such great care of this little guy for so long. We know it wasn’t always easy, but we know he would have thanked you himself if he could.
Rest in peace, sweet Patton. We’ll never forget your adorable face.
Because of his advanced age and recurring health issues, we’ve made Patton a permanent resident. This means he will stay in his foster home, under our care for as long as his health and quality of life allows. For now, he’s doing well and his foster family are spoiling and loving him up as much as they can.
Patton was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services when his ill owner could no longer care for him.
Patton has luxating patellas, severe periodontal disease, and a few cysts that need to be checked out. At his age, we’re not sure how many of those issues we can help with, but we’ll work with our vets to come up with a treatment plan for him and do our best.
His foster people are now getting to know wee Patton, and they’re spoiling him already.
We’ll have another update on this little muppet soon…
Welcome to Ladybird, Patton! We love you already!
Update
Patton has had few health issues since coming into our care, but he’s doing well despite the setbacks. A serious heart murmur will prevent the surgery he needs for his teeth, but he’s doing okay on pain medication and antibiotics.
His foster family report that he loves to go on walks and cuddling with his baby piglet. You’d never know he was a 15 year old dog – he has so much love and energy!
