Bingley
We’re sad to report that Bingley lost his fight with cancer in late June. Our hearts are broken for him and his foster mom.
Sleep well, sweet Bingley. We’ll never forget you.
Bingley came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray and was never claimed by his owner.
When he arrived at HAS, Bingley was infested with fleas, his ears were infected and he was a bit unstable on his feet. When a foster home opened up, we got Bingley out of HAS and to the vet for a check up.
Blood tests came back normal, so shortly after his first vet visit, Bingley had a dental cleaning and removal of a lump on his chest. A swab was taken from deep inside his ear that showed a serious infection.
Bingley was put on medication for his ears, and his wobble mostly improved. The vet advised that Bingley would likely always have a head tilt from permanent damage from the infection, and that he may sometimes be slightly unsteady on his feet.
Bingley was adopted, but shortly after he arrived in his new home, he started to show signs of discomfort in his jaw and the ear infection came back. Understandably, Bingley was returned to us, and thankfully he was able to go back to his original foster home.
We took Bingley to a different vet to get a second opinion, and to hopefully get a solid answer for what was going on. Several appointments and multiple tests later, we finally got an answer. Initially the thought was that the constant ear infections were related to a bony growth in his jaw that may have calcified into his ear canal. The hope was that an ablation of the canal would clean that up a bit, but a sample came back with bad news – poor Bingley has squamous cell carcinoma. Unfortunately there is no surgery or treatment option at this point, so Bingley is now a Ladybird permanent resident. His foster mom is doing her best to keep Bingley comfortable and happy for the time he has left. We’re sad Bingley didn’t get to find his forever home, but we’re thankful he has a forever foster home where he will be loved and spoiled every day for the rest of his days.
We love you Bingley!
