Ally
* Ally found her forever home with wonderful people! Woo hoo! *
We rescued Ally from Hamilton Animal Services. She arrived there as a stray. We were happy to rescue Ally when a foster home opened up. We had Ally spayed, and now that she’s healed, she’s ready to find her forever home!
Ally would not be the best choice for a first time rabbit owner. She’s a big bunny and she has some quirks that may be a lot to deal with for a novice.
Here’s a note from Ally’s foster family:
“Ally is a sweet, athletic bunny. She may be big, but can run super fast and jumps at least 4 feet straight up. She needs a tall pen, preferably with a lid. Not only a lid but a secure lid. Being an escape artist, Ally needs super duper extra bunny proofing. She’s not your average rabbit!
Ally gets along well with our other animals including another bunny, a cat, and our crazy 8 month old doodle. The doodle sees the bunnies as poop vending machines and pushes their bottoms hoping poop will come out. Free treats!
Ally will leave a few poops here and there when running around, but always uses her litter box to pee.
She needs an extra bunny proofed home as she is a chewer. She is super smart and watches you to see when you’re not looking. If she sees you watching she will stop whatever it is she knows she not supposed to be doing or chewing. I recommend covering cords and monitoring her when she is out of her pen. It’s best to clean her cage when she is running around, as she does not like anyone or other bunnies in her cage when she is in there.
She likes to be petted and will come hang out with you on the couch. She tolerates being picked up better than most rabbits.”

Our fostered rabbits are housed in x-pens or similar enclosures so they have lots of room to move around when they aren’t out for floor time. Some of our rabbits are free range in their foster home.
Commercially made pet store rabbit cages are far too small to allow rabbits to stretch out and move around with ease.
Here are some great websites and photos outlining alternative rabbit housing using x pens and similar enclosures.
