Jax
* Jax found his forever home with awesome people! Yay Jax! *
Jax came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray, but no owner came forward to claim him.
Jax is a sweet, sweet boy! Such a happy little guy. He has a joyful jump and a tail wag for everyone he meets.
At the vet appointment on his rescue day, it was discovered that Jax has a pretty significant heart murmur. A cardiac ultrasound revealed that Jax’s heart was healthy enough for anesthesia, and he was able to have the neuter surgery he needed. Thanks to Animal Hospital of Stoney Creek for seeing Jax!
Jax has been doing great in his foster home, and he’s learning lots of new things.
Here’s a report from his foster family:
“Jax has settled in very well! He is a high energy, very friendly dog. He quickly became comfortable with his foster parents, and is always excited to meet new people. He has been a very good patient at the vet! It took him a few days to calm down around the other dogs in the house, but this was because he was really excited to see them and meet them. Now that he has calmed a bit, he likes to cuddle with his foster brother! He is very curious about the cat, but is starting to understand that hissing is bad and is giving the cat her space. He is very snugly, and will take any opportunity to sit in your lap and fall asleep.
Jax doesn’t seem to have a lot of training: he doesn’t know any commands, he pulls when he walks, and he gets overly excited when he sees other dogs on his walks. We are working on basic commands, recall, and walking with him. He is very high energy, and needs multiple walks a day. Jax is a bit of an escape artist and takes open doors as an invitation to explore the neighbourhood. We are hoping that his recent neutering will help reduce he desire for freedom.
Jax is a very happy and friendly dog and would do well in a home that has lots of time to give him and lots of time for walks. He would do best in a home with children over ten years old.”
