Moon
* Moon found his forever home with an awesome person! Woo hoo! *
Mags, Marlowe, Sun, Moon and Emerald were found outdoors on their own and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. It’s likely these rabbits were originally from a nearby home where rabbits were being indiscriminately bred and allowed to wander the owner’s property, and the neighbourhood. Thankfully, several rescue organizations stepped in and took as many of the remaining rabbits they could catch.
The babies had a vet visit on their rescue day, and although they were healthier than little Diamond who came from the same area, they were still quite thin and frail. They were treated with medication for worms and fleas, and they did really well over the next couple of months at their foster homes.
Everything went great with their neuter surgeries, and now Sun, Moon and Emerald are ready to find their forever homes!
Sun and Moon were picking on poor Emerald so badly, they needed to be separated from him. They’re still in pens next to each other so Emerald isn’t without company. Because rabbits do better with a partner, we’re asking that the bunnies go to forever homes where there is another rabbit for them to be friends with, or where the adopters plan to adopt a second rabbit in the very near future.
Sun, Moon and Emerald are sweet bunnies. They aren’t fans of being picked up, but they do like their heads patted and stroked. They love the time they spend out of their pens to explore and hop around. They do need a “bunny proofed” space to do this, as they will chew things. Since being fixed, they are already much better with their litter box skills, but they’re not 100% yet. They will get there though! They enjoy a daily snack of a variety of fruits and veggies. Their favourite is romaine lettuce. They would do best in an adult home, or one with older children.

Our fostered rabbits are housed in x-pens or similar enclosures so they have lots of room to move around when they aren’t out for floor time. Some of our rabbits are free range in their foster home.
Commercially made pet store rabbit cages are far too small to allow rabbits to stretch out and move around with ease.
Here are some great websites and photos outlining alternative rabbit housing using x pens and similar enclosures.
