Wilson
* Wilson found his forever home with awesome people and another bunny to be friends with! *
Wilson came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. He was infested with fleas and was missing a lot of fur on his belly and legs. We’re not sure what caused the hair loss. Could have been a flea allergy, or Wilson may have been left in an unclean cage for an extended period of time. Either way, HAS staff treated Wilson for the fleas and they kept his cage clean for the duration of his stay. After a short time, Wilson’s fur started to grow back, which was a good sign.
When a foster home opened up, we got Wilson out of HAS and sent him straight to the vet for neutering. He recovered perfectly in his foster home. Almost all the missing fur has grown back in, and he’s doing fantastically. He’s a very sweet and gentle bunny!
Here’s a report from Wilson’s foster home:
“Wilson is a lovely bun. He’s almost 100% with using the litter box. He’s isn’t a fan of being confined in his pen, even though there’s lots of space there. He loves to be out and about visiting with the resident cats. Wilson loves his daily fruit and veggies. Romain lettuce is a definite favourite. Though he’s really not a fan of being picked up, he does like attention and affection, especially head pets. Wilson would likely enjoy the company of another rabbit if given the right introductions. All in all, Wilson is a sweet and loving bunny.”

Our fostered rabbits are housed in x-pens or similar enclosures so they have lots of room to move around when they aren’t out for floor time. Some of our rabbits are free range in their foster home.
Commercially made pet store rabbit cages are far too small to allow rabbits to stretch out and move around with ease.
Here are some great websites and photos outlining alternative rabbit housing using x pens and similar enclosures.
