Frankie
We had to say goodbye to Frankie yesterday. Thank you to one of Frankie’s foster moms, Kylie ( The Brow Room ) for loving Frankie right until the end, and for writing this beautiful tribute to her.
Sleep well beautiful Frankie. We will never forget you.

The hardest part about taking on an abandoned animal is finding out why. There’s always some bullshit reason someone gives up on these tiny souls. Sometimes it presents its self right away. Sometimes it takes weeks, months. What made you to disposable to the heartless human that left you?
.
Frankie’s was her cancer. Her “disposable” characteristics, her “problem” was her cancer. When her own body turned against her so did her human. Despite being dumped with no clues to her health issues, no idea where to start to help her, she accepted love, and she fought hard to make a lasting impression on everyone around her. No one escaped having to hold this little baby and rock her comfortably to sleep. That was her favourite place. In the warm arms of those who loved her, despite her “undesirable” health.
.
Frankie had a chance to feel unconditional love by so many people who didn’t give up on her. @ladybirdanimalsanctuary exhausted every avenue with no questions asked to make sure she had every chance at her new life. Without kind people, without selfless people, without empathetic and compassionate people, Ladybird cannot continue to help the animals that the heartless, cruel and selfish people in this world give up on.
.
If you can’t adopt, foster. If you can’t foster, sponsor. If you can’t sponsor, donate. If you can’t donate, educate. And if you can do it all, do it.
.
88 days wasn’t enough time with you. But forever wouldn’t have been either. You’ve left a special mark on everyone, sweet girl.

Frankie came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray, but her owners didn’t come forward to claim her. Frankie’s nails were very overgrown and she has a bad skin condition.
When her stray time was done, we were happy to get Frankie out of the shelter and into the safety of a foster home. She’ll have a grooming and a vet visit soon, and hopefully we can get her feeling better.
Welcome to Ladybird, Frankie! We’re so glad you’re here!
