Ollie
January 2022
Sad news. We had to say goodbye to permanent resident, Ollie.
He had a multitude of health issues that prevented him from being adoptable but he still had a great quality of life, so he became a permanent resident back in 2020. His forever foster mom went above and beyond for this sweet senior cat, getting him to countless vet visits and giving him all the love and care he deserved for his final years.
We want to thank Kimberley from @fosteringseniorpets for all she did for Ollie.
We will miss Ollie’s handsome face and his funny personality. And his talent for sticking his tongue out at the camera. 🙂
Rest well, Ollie. We’ll never forget you.
❤️
Ollie came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray and was not claimed by his owner. He definitely belonged to someone at some point, as he was already neutered. Unfortunately, it seems that whoever did own Ollie was neglecting him. He was very matted, had a bad eye, limited sight in the other eye, horrible dental disease, a large, painful cyst on his side, and an abscess on his chin. We’re so glad a foster home was available to take Ollie in so we could get him out of the shelter and get him the care he so desperately needed.
At Ollie’s vet visit, he was given a mild sedative so the chin abscess could be cleaned up and so the cyst on his side could be drained. It was a large mass, and if you want to picture what draining it was like, think two minutes straight of Dr. Pimple Popper. So gross!
A few weeks later, Ollie had the dental surgery he needed, and he seems much happier after having the rotten teeth removed.
Since his arrival, Ollie has been to the vet many times for several different health issues. As well as limited vision, Ollie also has high blood pressure, arthritis and IBD. Because of his ongoing issues, it was decided that Ollie should be made a permanent resident.
