Leonard
* Leonard found his forever home with lovely people! Yay! *
Leonard came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. Despite being at the shelter for more than a month, no owner came forward to claim him. We were happy to get Leonard out of the shelter when a foster home opened up.
When he arrived into our care, Leonard was a bit on the thin side and he had some sparse fur, but he was a serious purr head right from the get go. He likes to chat with his foster family, and his happy feet are always going. Blood work showed that he’s pretty healthy for a senior guy. Since being in his foster home, Leonard has gained weight and his fur is looking much better. Leonard had the dental surgery he needed, and now he’s ready to find his forever home.
Here’s a note from Leonard’s foster home:
“This was our first time fostering a cat, and we expected a little creature who might hide under the bed for a week and need consistent coaxing to trust that humans are friends. But instead, Leonard bounded into our lives. Within ten minutes he was cuddling on our laps and purring up a storm. He is talkative and very affectionate. If you don’t want him on you, you’ll have to stay standing, because as soon as there is a horizontal human surface, this guy is on it. He’s purring more often than not, with a purr loud enough to fill the room. We think he was an inside cat because he shows no interest in going outside. He cohabitates peacefully with our pet birds (doesn’t seem to have a strong prey drive). He is good with older kids (we don’t have any young kids in our bubble, but don’t foresee him having a problem with them).
Likes: Wet food, cuddling, batting at cat toys, licking humans
Dislikes: Closed interior doors, when two people are sitting and he has to decide which one to cuddle with (he usually goes back and forth), when people don’t sit for long periods of time”
