Chirp
* Cricket and Chirp found their forever home together with a wonderful person! Yippee! *
Cricket and Chirp were surrendered to a shelter in Quebec by their owners. We were happy to get these sweet boys out of the shelter when a foster home opened up, and they made the trip to Ontario through One Last Chance Rescue and Freedom Drivers Animal Rescue Transport. Big thank you to the awesome volunteers from both organizations!
At their vet visit, it was discovered that Cricket has a condition called osseous choristoma, which has rendered him blind. It’s also likely that Cricket is deaf. No treatment or medication is required for these issues, and he is not in any pain, but Cricket should have regular vet visits to be sure there are no changes with his condition. Chirp was given a clean bill of health.
Cricket and Chirp were adopted in March 2021, but unfortunately had to be returned to us because of allergies. So, they’re now available again, and they’re ready for their next adventure in a forever home!
Here’s a note from their foster home:
“Cricket and Chirp are nice pigs. They’re pretty typical in that they aren’t thrilled about being picked up or handled too much. Chirp gets quite upset when stressed and will nip if he feels threatened. For this reason, Cricket and Chirp would not be a good match for small children. Cricket is much more accepting of being handled, but that’s likely because he can’t see or hear you coming.
They both love timothy hay and their daily fruit and veggie snacks. Chirp can often be found running laps and popcorning around their enclosure. Cricket joins in the fun by yelling at Chirp as he runs by, and occasionally doing a lap or two, though with much less speed. They’re really fun to watch.
Chirp will need regular grooming due to his long hair, so he’ll need an adopter who has the time and patience for brushing and keeping his fur free of tangles and mess.”

Guinea pigs need much more room than the typical pet store guinea pig cages offer. Here are some websites that have great examples of the type of cages pigs can live happily in, so that they have lots of room to move around and explore:
