Romeo
* Romeo found his forever home with a lovely person! Yay! *
Romeo came into Hamilton Animal Services after a house fire. Thankfully he was not injured. After many attempts to contact Romeo’s owners after the allotted hold period at the shelter, Romeo’s owners did not respond, nor did anyone come forward to claim him.
We were happy to get this lovely boy out of the shelter and into a foster home.
Romeo is the sweetest guy, and so handsome! At his vet visit, it was discovered that he has a heart murmur. He desperately needed a dental surgery, and he had an issue with his eyelid that needed to be surgically repaired. We didn’t want to take the chance on surgery until we knew for sure if Romeo’s heart could handle it, so he had an ultrasound. The results showed that Romeo has a cardiac disease called Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Thankfully, it’s not a severe case, and he was able to have his dental and eye surgery. Everything went great! Romeo had ten teeth removed, and his eyelid was repaired. He had to be a cone-head for a bit to make sure he didn’t damage the sutures, but he didn’t seem to mind. He was still as snuggly as ever!
Romeo’s follow up appointment went great, and he was given the all-clear from our vets to start the search for his forever home.
Here’s a note from Romeo’s foster home:
“This guy is a sweetheart! He’s a handsome, cuddly, loving and happy guy who is extremely gently and very laid back. He loves lots of pets and spends a lot of time lazing on his back and purring. He’s friendly with our female cat so would likely be fine with another animal. He has a small heart murmur but was able to have some much needed dental surgery to remove some teeth and clean others. Due to the murmur they didn’t want to keep him under for too long so he will likely need more dental surgery in several years. He had a torn eyelid when he was rescued and had that stitched up and it is all healed now. This loving guy will make someone a lovely cat companion, he’s so affectionate and sweet, we’ll miss having him around.”
