Grover
* Grover found his forever home with a lovely person! Yay! *
Grover was found as a stray and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. Nobody came forward to claim Grover, so when his stray time was up we got him out of the shelter and into a loving foster home.
Grover is a sweet, sweet guy. Very friendly! While at HAS, Grover was suffering from a bit of an upper respiratory virus, but it wasn’t a severe case. At his first vet visit, he was put on eye drops for conjunctivitis. In the following weeks, his watery eyes would mostly clear up, and then get watery again. The vet let us know that his eye issue is not causing him pain, and that it may clear up as time goes on. Potential adopters should be willing to get Grover in for regular vet visits to keep his eye issue in check. Grover has now healed from his neuter surgery, and he’s ready to find his forever home!
Here’s a note from Grover’s foster mom:
“Grover is such a sweet guy. He’s still young and somewhat skittish at first, but once he calms down and gets comfortable, he’s really easy-going. I think not naming him Gumby was a missed opportunity, cuz he’s long and lanky and very stretchy and pliable; while he doesn’t really take the initiative to curl up in your lap, he doesn’t complain if you put him there yourself. He’s curious and likes to be around, but not necessarily in your face about it. If he doesn’t know where you are, he tends to sing the song of his people at a very loud volume to remind you that he’s still around.
Every time we’ve gone to the vet for appointments, everybody comments on how good his temperament is! I think the perfect example of this is when I approach him with a treat in my hand – he dips his head and goes in for head scritches instead of the treat, because the scritches are obviously much more important.
I think Grover needs a household without young children; he tends to startle easily and is a little nervous when first approached, so young kids who might be tempted to go after him instead of letting him come to them might stress him out too much. As for other cats, I’m not quite sure – he sort of ignores one of my other cats, but actively harasses the other. Before I let him interact with them I thought he really wanted to get out and meet them, but now that he roams around the house he doesn’t really spend much time with them, except to stalk one. So, a house with another cat might be a bit of a roll of the dice; and I don’t think a house where he’s the only animal would be a problem at all, and might actually keep him calmer.
All that being said, he’s a really adorable and rambunctious lil’ boi. I think he’ll be a great buddy for somebody!”
