Jerry
* Jerry found his forever home with a wonderful person! Congrats Jerry! *
Jerry came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. A kind person saw his severe injuries and brought him to safety at the shelter. It is not known how Jerry was injured.
HAS transferred Jerry to their vet where he was given basic treatment and pain medication, then he was returned to the shelter to wait out his stray time. The staff at the shelter did a great job looking after Jerry during his stay with them – changing his bandages and giving him lots of pats and scritches. Despite how he must have been feeling, Jerry was very affectionate towards everyone he met at the shelter.
Nobody came forward to claim Jerry, so the shelter reached out to us for help.
We were happy to get Jerry out of the shelter and we took him straight to the vet where he had a more comprehensive exam and another bandage change. We discussed a plan for his care going forward, and Jerry was then transferred to his foster home where he could recover from his ordeal. After many bandage changes, medications and vet visits, Jerry’s wounds healed up beautifully. Big thanks to Jerry’s amazing foster family for helping him heal.
After a couple of months, Jerry was finally read to have his neuter surgery, and he had a broken tooth removed at the same time. Jerry is all healed from surgery, and he’s now ready to find his forever home!
Here’s a report from his foster home:
“Jerry funny Qwerks
* Catches toy in mouth and drags you around
* Becomes a liquid when lying down, need to catch up or hold him up. Very trusting
* Vocal about cuddling/food times or when it’s time for bed
* Runs so fast he drifts a little when he turns
* Loves his cardboard scratch pad more than anything
* Pat pats at garbage can
Jerry is a very cuddly loveable little black cat. He is always showing affection and he loves to talk. He came to us with a large wound on the side of his face and Paige and I managed to nurse him back to good health and the wound healed very quickly leaving only a bad spot for the time being that’s covered by a lot of fluff. Jerry is extremely energetic and he loves to play. He loves to chase things that are string-like around the house and sometimes when he catches it in his mouth he will try to walk away with it and whoever is attached to the toy. When he is showing affection he loves to head boop, use his paws and he basically melts into a little puddle of black void once he gets comfortable. Once he’s lying down it’s virtually impossible to disturb him and he’ll start snoring soon enough. His favourite toy though is a cardboard scratch pad that Lisa gave us when we started fostering him, he has never been able to leave that thing alone. We’ve offered him beds and other scratching pads along with cat trees and he opts for the cardboard pad every time!
Jerry came to us in need of love and care and even in the rough patches he showed nothing but constant affection for us and any handlers from the clinics. Everyone who meets Jerry falls in love with him, I’m sure he’ll be a forever cat for someone very quickly. We’ve loved having Jerry in our home and cherish the time we’ve spent with him rough or happy he’s handled everything stunningly. One last item would be that Jerry seems to have a stomach issue/food allergy of some sort that is still being sussed out but currently is eating the High Fiber Wet Food from the Cat Clinic which has helped him immensely in feeling better.”
