* Godiva has been adopted by a lovely family! Yay! *

Godiva was found as a stray and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. When she arrived at the shelter, Godiva’s fur was very sparse and she was covered in fleas and scabs. Poor girl was in rough shape. The shelter administered a flea and tick treatment, and Godiva waited out her stray time. When no owner came forward to claim Godiva, we were happy to get her out of the shelter and into the warmth of a loving foster home.
At her vet visit, it was discovered that Godiva had an ear infection, worms, and an internal parasite that was causing diarrhea. She was put on medication and though the medication eventually cleared up those issues, Godiva still had a bit of a doughy belly. Blood tests showed that Godiva was negative for FIV and Feline leukaemia, but her white blood cell count was high. We waited a few weeks, then re-tested her blood and did an ultrasound to rule out anything serious. Thankfully, everything was okay! Godiva’s vets let us know that the high white blood cell count was likely residual from all the parasites she had. They advised that Godiva’s adopters should be diligent with annual health checks that include vaccines and blood tests to be sure everything stays on the up and up.
Godiva is now ready to find her forever home!

“Ms. Godiva is a sweet, lovable, funny little girl!
When she first arrived, she immediately made my home her own. She never hid, never played shy and boldy asserted herself with me and any visitors who have entered my apartment.
She loves to be touched and she does a sweet, quirky little hop to press her head against my hand to make the most out of any pets.
She doesn’t, however, like to be picked up. It may be because it hasn’t happened much and she isn’t used to it. To be honest, I haven’t really had much need to pick her up – she always comes when I call or pat the couch beside me.
And, much to my astonishment, I didn’t even need to pick her up to put her in the carrier when we had to go to the vet. We have made several trips and each time, I bring the carrier out, set it on the floor with the door open and she walks right in and lays down. She loves napping in there and it sure does take away the stress of visiting the vet!!
Godiva is a young cat and is very playful. She loves to run from one end of my apartment to the other. She loves to play with small toys she can bat around and she has brought them onto my bed during the night hoping I will play fetch. Warning: she will keep you playing fetch until she decides it’s over and lands in a heap on the floor to catch her breath.
She does sleep on my bed with me at certain points during the night. She is a relatively patient sleeping companion as I toss and turn frequently. She will quietly move to a different spot or jump off to find another activity to amuse herself. If, however, I wiggle my toes, she will attack the moving creature under the covers with pinpoint accuracy and startlingly sharp claws. You have been warned!
Godiva eats everything I have given her – she is not picky and has not balked when I have introduced new food. Her litter habits are impeccable and she is learning to use the scratching post. I will send it with her when she goes to her forever home.
All in all, Godiva is a delightful, amusing, energetic kitty who will be a loyal, loving companion. And, did I say she is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!”
