Ducky
* Ducky and Mash have have been adopted by wonderful people! Yay! *
Ducky and Mash were rescued by Ladybird from a shelter in Quebec. Their owner surrendered Ducky and Mash to the shelter because their children weren’t looking after them.
Ducky and Mash are very sweet pigs! Mash has some fur loss that our vet checked out, and that the foster family have been monitoring since their arrival. The fur issue seems to be a type of guinea pig alopecia. Mash is not itchy and he doesn’t scratch at herself. She is mite and parasite free. And the bare spots sometimes grow a little bit of fuzz, but it doesn’t grow in completely. The vet was not concerned about Mash’s condition, and they gave her and Ducky the go ahead to start the search for their forever home! We’re asking that Ducky and Mash be adopted as a pair.
These two have learned the sound of the fridge opening, and they’ll “wheek wheek wheek” to let their foster family know that they’re ready for their veggie snack. Ducky is a little shyer than her sister, but Mash will come right to the cage wall, stand on her back legs, and stretch up to see what veggies you’ve brought. It’s so adorable! Their favourites are romaine lettuce, peppers and kale.
They’re currently housed in two Midwest Guinea Pig Habitat cages attached together, and they take full advantage of all the space. Ducky and Mash deserve a forever home where they’ll have lots of space and lots of love.

Guinea pigs need much more room than the typical pet store guinea pig cages offer. Here are some websites that have great examples of the type of cages pigs can live happily in, so that they have lots of room to move around and explore:
