Biscuit
* Biscuit has been adopted by her foster home! Woo hoo! *
Biscuit, Blondie, Brandi, mommy Bernadette, and her babies; Bijou, Beebo and Button were rescued from a shelter in Quebec.
These hedgehogs were part of a group of more than twenty who ended up at a shelter after their owner was arrested. Big thanks to All Creatures Rescue and the other organizations who took in the other hedgies.
These poor girls were in rough shape. They had a variety of issues including skin infections, eye infections, and some have missing toes and feet. Males and females were housed together before they ended up at the shelter, but thankfully, none of the girls were pregnant.
Even though Biscuit is missing a foot, she gets around just fine. Her foster mom reports that she runs in her wheel and completely trashes her cage every night, so it’s clear that she’s not bothered by her impairment. Biscuit was doing fine in her foster home until one morning when her foster mom woke up to find that Biscuit’s eye was bleeding. Unfortunately, hedgehogs can develop a number of serious medical conditions, and eye issues are one of the most frequent. The eye had likely ruptured and was not visible and not saveable. Biscuit was stitched up at the vet, and she healed like a champ. In the end, Biscuit’s foster home adopted her! Yay!
