Sprocket
* Sprocket found his forever home with amazing people! Yay! *
Sprocket ended up at Hamilton Animal Services as a stray and was not claimed by his owner. This poor old dog was showing serious signs of neglect. He had eye and skin infections, severe matting, mobility issues and his teeth were rotten. On top of all this, it seems he was abandoned by his owners at the time in his life when he needed them most. Poor old guy.
We got Sprocket out of the shelter and into the warmth and care of a loving foster home. He has a very sweet personality, despite how he must have be feeling.
Sprocket had the dental surgery he so desperately needed, and all his teeth were removed. He was neutered while he was under and his did great for his surgery. He had a follow up appointment and was given the go ahead to find his forever home!
Here’s a note from his foster mom:
“ Sprocket is the epitome of a sweet (super) senior dog! When he was rescued, Sprocket’s fur was very matted, his eyes were so gunky and crusty, and his mouth was full of rotten, loose teeth. He was so confused, incredibly nervous of everything, and very emotionally withdrawn. Sprocket’s vet put him on some eye medications that immediately began to help, but it soon became clear that his vision was quite impaired, which explains why he was so timid at first. Happily, the elegant poodle inside soon emerged, and Sprocket has come such a long way in a very short period of time! Once he was freshly groomed and finally felt safe in his new surroundings, his confidence grew and he started exploring his foster home and investigating the great outdoors. He really began to come into his own after all of his teeth were removed and he was neutered – it was like he became a whole new dog! Sprocket has mapped out all of his foster home and mostly navigates well – he has mastered how to beg for snacks in the kitchen by wagging his little tail and how to ask to go out by staring at the door. One of his eyes is not producing tears, so he requires ongoing treatment for dry eye but is otherwise in great health. Sprocket is a super easy-going companion – he loves his bed and is mostly content to nap the day away. Housetrained, crate trained, and impeccably well behaved, Sprocket is a gem who loves people, dogs, and even rabbits! All that he asks for is a quiet, single-level retirement home and an adopter who enjoys receiving gummy kisses and giving eye drops a few times a day (followed by yummy treats, of course)!”
