Colonel Butternubs
* Colonel Butternubs found his forever home with lovely people! Woo hoo! *
Colonel Butternubs came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray and was not claimed by his owner. He’s such a handsome kitty, and though shy at first, he’s very sweet. We were happy to get Colonel Butternubs out of the shelter when a foster home opened up. First stop, the vet to be neutered! As well as being fixed, Colonel Butternubs had his teeth cleaned while he was under. He did great for the surgery, and he was sent to his foster home with medication for a severe ear mite infestation.
Colonel Butternubs had a follow up vet appointment a couple weeks later, and thankfully his ear and skin issues have cleared up. His neuter incision healed perfectly and he’s now ready to find his forever home!
Here’s a note from Colonel’s foster home:
“Butternubs is the absolute sweetest cat we’ve ever had the pleasure of fostering. All he wants is love and a warm lap. He will sit with you for hours and purr the day away. His favourite non-lap spots are in a cat tree next to a window so he can watch the world go by.
He is a very chill cat. Like, super chill. A quiet home would be best for him. He would likely do a lot of hiding if there was an excess of noise and daily hustle and bustle.
Butternubs doesn’t mind being brushed, which is good. He’ll need an adopter who can keep up with his long fur and keep it clear of mats. His adopter will also need to give his eyes a gentle wipe at least once a day to keep the fur staining under his eyes at bay. He is very good for nail trimming.
He gets along with our foster rabbit, and has met one of our cats through a baby gate. There was some hissing at first, but as the days went on, Butternubs would happily greet the other cat at the gate and they were friendly and curious with each other. With proper introductions, Butternubs would likely do well living with another cat.
The only issue we’ve noticed is that Butternubs sometimes poops outside his litter box. Not every time, but maybe every third or fourth poop. It’s always within a few inches of the box, so we’ve just put a pee pad there just in case. He uses the box every time for peeing.
Otherwise, Colonel Butternubs is the perfect cat. Always happy to see you, and always purring. He will be a wonderful companion to a very lucky person!”
