* V has been adopted to a fantastic family! Yay! *

Toronto Animal Services reached out to us for help with several hamsters that had been surrendered to them. There was one teddy bear hamster Einstein, and three dwarf hamsters, Suga, Jin and V. These poor hamsters were in rough shape. They had skin issues and mites that were both likely caused by poor husbandry. And they’re absolutely terrified of everything. It doesn’t seem they had much human interaction or proper care up until they were surrendered.
We were happy to get these little ones out of the shelter and into foster homes. They had a vet visit shortly after their arrival, and were given medication for the mites. They settled in at their foster home, and are doing well. They seem to be happy to have clean and spacious enclosures and proper food and snacks. They had a second health check and were all given a clean bill of health!
Suga, Jin and V are now ready to find their forever homes!
We’ll have a more detailed report from their foster home soon, but we can tell you that these particular hamsters would not make suitable pets for children. They are still quite afraid of people and may not ever be comfortable with handling. They’re getting a little better every day, but potential adopters need to know that these guys will need their space.
