Skipper
* Skipper has been adopted by her foster home! Woo hoo! *
Skipper came to Ladybird from Hamilton Animal Services in early August as a stray. She was lactating when she arrived, but there were no puppies located anywhere in the area she was found. She’s a sweet, young dog who hasn’t received any clear training. Sadly, Skipper has heartworm and needed to find a specific foster home scenario where she could safely to run the course of months worth of heartworm treatment. Luckily – after a public appeal to our network of supporters – the perfect foster home applied to help her out. We are so happy that Skipper has been gifted a second chance at the very best life. She really is a very special pup with a super happy personality.
Welcome to Ladybird, Skipper! We’re so glad you’re here.
* September 22, 2022 UPDATE! *
Skipper has been an absolute star with her foster family so far. She’s learning new things every day, and she has a happy tail wag for everyone she meets. The tests done at her vet visit showed that despite being heartworm positive, Skipper is pretty healthy otherwise. The treatment for heartworm is now in place and will continue for the next couple of months.
Skipper had a much needed bath and grooming at Envy Grooms (big thanks to James for doing such a great job!) and she is looking and feeling fabulous now.
Everything is on the up and up for this sweet dog, and we’re thrilled we could help her.
Thank you to everyone who supported Skipper’s rescue in so many ways!
* January 2, 2023 UPDATE! *
Skipper continues to do very well in her foster home. She’s finally finished her heartworm treatment, and she has another test coming up to be sure she’s completely clear of it. She’ll be spayed shortly after that test if all goes well. Her foster family are working on helping her not jump up on people, but she is otherwise good as gold. And they report that Skipper is mesmerized by squirrels. 🙂
Go Skipper!
