Dre
* Dre found his forever home with amazing people! Congrats Dre! *
Dre was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services by his owner when they could no longer look after him. When he arrived at HAS, Dre’s eye was causing him considerable pain. It was bulging, infected, and beyond repair, so shelter staff sent him to the vet for it to be removed. He spent a little more time at the shelter to heal, and when a foster home opened up, we were happy to get Dre out of the shelter. First stop was to the vet for neutering and dental surgery. Dre was already missing seven teeth, but three more needed to be removed. The vet also removed a lump on Dre’s belly that thankfully was just a cyst.
Dre was very happy to have a loving foster home where he could decompress and heal from all that has happened to him since being surrendered. He’s a shy guy, but he warms up and becomes a sweet love bug once he gets to know you.
Dre has healed from his surgeries and is now ready to find his forever home! As he can be nervous at times, a home without small children would be best for Dre.
Here’s a note from Dre’s foster mom:
“Sweet and spunky Dre is a Chihuahua lover’s dream come true! While timid at first, Dre warms up fairly quickly to people and new situations. He’s a wonderful houseguest and has pretty good recall indoors and on a long leash, although he’s not yet learned to sit on command. Dre possesses some fantastic qualities that are sometimes hard to find in a tiny dog – he’s quiet, independent, house-trained, and crate-trained. He walks beautifully on a leash and loves outdoor adventures – even if it’s raining! Dre would prefer to be an only dog, but he is rabbit-friendly and would likely do well in a home with confident and respectful cats. Despite having only one eye, Dre has mastered the puppy-dog stare and isn’t afraid to use it to make you fall hopelessly in love with him. He gives the sweetest little kisses, is the best buddy to take a nap with, and is just an absolute joy to be around.”
