* Sugar and Spice found their forever home with lovely people! Congrats, cuties! **

When Spice’s cage mate passed away, their owner decided they didn’t want to get another gerbil to be friends with Spice, so they surrendered him to Hamilton Animal Services. We were happy to take Spice in, and we had him neutered shortly after his arrival. Gerbils need to be in pairs or groups, so our intention was to try to find him a home where there was another lone gerbil who needed a friend.
When we heard that our friends at All Creatures Rescue had a single female gerbil in their care, we offered to try to bond her with Spice so that the gerbils would no longer be lonely. After a few weeks of slow and patient bonding, Sugar and Spice are now best friends. They are always together, and they can be found playing and bounding around their spacious home (a 75 gallon tank). They spend their time burrowing and building intricate tunnels, and they love their large wheel and their dust bath. Timothy hay is a staple to their diet and as material for tunnel building. As well as their gerbil food, they love the various snacks they are offered. Both gerbils are very active, and quite friendly. They’d be great companions to just about any home.
