* Samosa and Vindaloo found their forever home together. Yay! *

India and Taja were rescued from a shelter in Quebec. They, along with many other guinea pigs, were surrendered to the shelter by their owner because they had too many animals. India and Taja are Mama Tot‘s older daughters. This guinea pig family came to us via One Last Chance, and Freedom Drivers volunteers, and we’re very thankful for all the wonderful people who donate their time to transport rescued animals all across the country.

When they arrived, India and Taja were only about four months old, but it was confirmed at their vet visit that they were both pregnant. We were devastated that these poor little girls were going to have babies. They’re just babies themselves!
India gave birth to a single baby, Samosa, on July 8th, 2023. Taja gave birth to two babies later that day – Tandoori and Vindaloo. When the babies were a month old, they and their moms had a vet visit for health checks and to confirm the babies’ genders. All the guinea pigs were given a clean bill of health, and they are now ready to find their forever homes!

Samosa and Vindaloo are the two boys, and we are asking they be adopted as a pair. Due to their extremely shy nature, they need a quiet home without small children.
Here’s a report from their foster home:
“Samosa and Vindaloo are two of the most hilarious and fuzzy jumping beans that you’ll ever met! These two love to do zoomies through their hay pile and will keep you entertained with their quirkiness.Having said that, they are very skittish when it comes to humans. With time, they get used to “their human” being around and having hands in their enclosure but will do their very best to avoid being picked up! If you can carefully pick them up, they’ll nicely settle into your lap… for a very short time… until they decide it’s time to go explore, or just be anywhere else! They do much better if you mingle with them, on floor level (during daily “floor time”) than if you try to hold them.Vindaloo has beautifully coloured, fuzzy fur and Samosa is a furry puffball with a face that looks more like a chipmunk than a guinea pig!They loooove their vegetables (pretty much everything!) as well as their daily vitamin c wafer, which they’ll be sure to remind you about – loudly! They seem to think that they’re getting goodies every time you put your hands in their enclosure, so tend to run right over and nibble your fingers. They never bite in a harmful or intentionally hurtful way, but they will definitely nibble if you give them any chance at all. Because of their skittish nature and consistent tendency to nibble, Samosa and Vindaloo would not be well suited for a household with young children.But if you are looking for two quirky piggies with big personalities, these munchkins are perfect!”

Because of their curly fur, Samosa and Vindaloo will occasionally need eye lubrication to keep their eyes clear and free from stray fur. The product is Optixcare, and it can be purchased at your vet, or on line.
