Quill
* Quill found her forever home with wonderful people! Yippee! *
Quill was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services by her owner when they could no longer care for her. Quill was having trouble with her legs, so HAS staff reached out to us for help. We got Quill into the vet right away, and xrays showed that one of Quills leg had previously been broken and had healed awkwardly. Quill is still eating, perching and seems otherwise okay, but she has a bit of a tough time getting around. Our vets don’t think any surgical intervention is needed, so Quill was started on pain medication. She’s done really well since coming into our care, and she’s now ready to find her forever home!
A DNA test confirmed Quill’s gender to be female.
Here’s a note from Quill’s foster home:
“Quill is a shy, sweet girl. Unfortunately, she came to us with an old injury to her leg. The injury healed poorly resulting in a deviation to her leg reducing her mobility. She does not seem painful and can happily move about her enclosure. Quill gets up early and loves to sing with the sun rise. She enjoys gazing at her reflection in the mirror and admiring her beautiful colours. She is very gentle but is nervous and does not like to be handled. With a time and patience she will likely overcome her shyness. Quill has not been exposed to other birds yet but likely would enjoy being paired with another bird. A quiet home would be best for Quill. She has not been exposed to cats but is fine with dogs looking at her though the cage. She likes to listen to music and enjoys a good Netflix mystery.”
