Dalton
* Dalton found his forever home with a lovely family! Yay! *
At the end of August, someone dumped an entire family of domestic rabbits onto a trail in Hamilton. Hamilton Animal Services was called and the rabbits brought into the shelter.
These rabbits are among the lucky ones who survived being abandoned, but not all animals are so lucky. Domestic animals don’t have the survival skills that wild animals do. They often starve to death, or are killed by predators. There is always an alternative to dumping, and there are many resources available. Dumping a pet is never the answer. Please stop doing this.
Fast forward to late October – the shelter was beyond capacity, and some of this bunny family ended up on the euthanasia list. We put a call out for fosters, so many wonderful people answered that call that we were able to get Dalton and Candy Apple out of the shelter to safety, and we have more fosters on hand for some of the new rabbits that will inevitably be brought in soon after. Amazing!
Dalton was neutered on his rescue day, and he recovered perfectly in his foster home. He’s now ready to find his forever home!
Here’s a note from Dalton’s foster family:
“Meet Dalton, the petite rabbit with a big heart and a love for playful antics!
This adorable adoptable bunny has a passion for munching on hay, savoring playful toy-chewing activities, and, surprisingly, forming feline friendships. Dalton’s compact size makes him an ideal fit for any home. Beyond his love for hay and toys, Dalton has a unique hobby—he enjoys hopping on top of his wooden house, showcasing his playful spirit and adding an extra layer of charm to his personality. If you’re ready to welcome a petite bundle of joy who brings a touch of whimsy into your home, consider making Dalton a part of your family. Come meet Dalton and discover the joy of having a charming bunny companion who loves hay, toys, and has a flair for the playful, including hopping adventures atop his wooden retreat. Adopt Dalton and add a delightful touch of fun to your life!”
* Dalton has been vaccinated against Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHDV).
