* Seraphina has been adopted to a wonderful person! Woot! *

Seraphina’s owner surrendered her to a Quebec shelter because their hamster had an accidental litter, and because Seraphina has malocclusion, meaning her teeth are not exactly aligned properly. The shelter reached out for help via One Last Chance rescue placement, and we were more than happy to take this little girl in. Big thank you to Freedom Drivers volunteers for getting Seraphina to us safely all the way from Quebec on Christmas Eve.

In her foster home, Seraphina is housed in a 75 gallon tank with lots of different places to sleep, to climb, to tunnel through, and lots of spots to sit and have a snack. She’s even got her own private sand bath. She discovered her wheel the first night, and though we thought she’d be weary from the long drive, she ran her little heart out for hours. Seraphina had a vet visit, and was given a clean bill of health. The vet noted that her teeth were fine during the check-up, but that they should be checked at least every six months to be sure no issues arise.
Seraphina is now available for adoption!

Seraphina was clearly not socialized very much before she was surrendered to the shelter. She startles easily, and she is not comfortable being picked up. Her foster family are working on helping her understand that human hands will not hurt her. She can be nippy, so a home without small children will be best for her. We’d love it if Seraphina could find a home where she has an enclosure at least as large as the one she has now. See below for some examples of appropriate enclosures for hammies. Seraphina enjoys the variety of foods she is offered, and she loves fresh veggies.
