When Joseph Junior (aka J.J.) was brought into Hamilton Animal Services, he was a mess. His back leg wasn’t working, he had a large open wound on his head, he was loaded with fleas, infested with ear mites, and his whole body was covered in a soot-like substance. This poor boy had been through the wringer.
Shelter staff reached out to us about J.J. and we immediately got him out of the shelter and straight to the vet. Xrays showed that J.J.’s leg issue is likely an old injury that didn’t heal property. Thankfully, he could have surgery to repair it, and he was neutered while he was under anesthetic. Blood tests showed that J.J. has FIV, but the blood results were otherwise normal, which is great.
Despite how he must have been feeling, J.J. had a head bonk and purr for everyone he meets. Such a sweet cat.
J.J. is all healed from his surgery and ready to find his forever home! He will always have a limp, and he may develop arthritis in the future because of the past injury and surgery. Potential adopters must be willing to take him for regular vet visits to keep on top of his leg condition, FIV status, and overall health.
J.J. hasn’t been around dogs since coming into our care, but he does seem to get along with the resident cat in his foster home, though she’s not ready to be friends with him quite yet. 🙂
