* Mylie and Melanie found their forever home together! Woo hoo! *

Mylie and Melanie were surrendered to a Quebec shelter, but we were not told the reason why. We were happy to take these two sweet babies in, and they came to us by way of One Last Chance, and Freedom Drivers volunteers. We’re very thankful for all the wonderful people who donate their time to transport rescued animals all across the country.

Mylie and Melanie are sweet rats, but a little shy. Shortly after their arrival to their foster home, they were already exploring their enclosure and stashing away their snacks for later. Mylie and Melanie had a vet visit and they were given a clean bill of health. They’re now ready to find their forever home! We’re asking Mylie and Melanie be adopted as a pair.

The girls are currently being housed in a double Critter Nation cage, and they very much enjoy all the space the enclosure provides. They have lots of fun hanging out in the many hammocks they have to choose from, but they’re more often found cuddled together in their wooden house that they’ve stuffed full of nesting material (mostly scrap fabric and strips of newspaper). Mylie is the shyer of the two, but they’re both curious and friendly.
Favourite snacks are tomatoes, Cheerios, and green beans.

Ladybird recommends Critter Nation cages. They are hands down the most spacious, and best quality enclosure for small animals on the market. They come in single and double sizes, and can be modified and customized to create enrichment and provide comfort. Their design and solid manufacturing almost entirely eliminates the possibility of accidental escape. Critter Nation cages are available (or can be ordered) at most local pet supply stores.

Can’t adopt but want to help?
Monetary donations are always needed, but if you’d like to donate something specifically for the rats in our care, donations of rat food, baby blankets, rat hammocks and fleece liners for Critter Nation cages are very much appreciated!
