Saffy
* Saffy found her forever home with lovely folks! Yay! *
Saffy ended up at Hamilton Animal Services as a very sick stray. She had her two very young kittens with her, one of which had passed away by the time they got to the shelter. The other baby was so sick, he was beyond help. The poor little one was humanely euthanized to end his suffering.
The shelter started Saffy on medication to help her through her severe respiratory illness, and with time, she thankfully recovered. No owner came forward to claim Saffy, despite her being at the shelter for an extended period of time. Poor Saffy had been through the wringer, but she still had a purr and a head-bonk for everyone she met. When a foster home opened up, we were happy to get Saffy out of the shelter and straight to the vet for a health check and to be spayed. All went well with her spay, and she spent some time recovering in her foster home. Now that she’s healed, Saffy is ready to find her forever home!
Saffy’s foster mom describes her as a velcro cat. It may take her a few days to get comfortable in new surroundings, and she may resort to grumbling/hissing when stressed, but once she’s settled, she is a lovely girl. She desperately wants to be near people all the time, and she isn’t fond of being left alone. An adopter who is home more than not would be beneficial for her. She loves cuddles and attention, and will protest vocally if shut out of a room where people are and she is not. When a lap is not available, her second favourite place to be is perched in a window where she can be on neighbourhood watch. She is a very curious kitty. Saffy will play with her toys by herself, but she also enjoys when humans join in for playtime. When she’s overly stimulated, she will give love bites, so a home without small children would be best for her.
Saffy would prefer to be the only cat in the home.
Saffy is a lovely cat who deserves a forever home where she will never experience heartbreak and abandonment again.
