We’re happy to report that our sweet Figaro has found wonderful forever family!

Figaro came to Hamilton Animal Services as a stray with a bad eye infection. We were happy to rescue Figaro from the shelter when a foster home opened up. Figaro visited the vet on his rescue day for assessment and treatment for his eye, and was then transferred to his foster home.

Figaro is a ball of kitten energy and was so happy to have space to explore and new people to play with. He was eventually introduced to the dog and other cats in his foster home and he loves spending time with them. Figaro will definitely need another kitty in his new home who matches his energy level. His adopters will also need to take the time to play with Figaro to help keep him mentally and physically stimulated. He can sometimes get a bit bitey during play, so learning to redirect his enthusiasm would be helpful!

We had Figaro neutered, and during surgery, a closer exam on his eye determined it has a congenital defect that was likely caused by an in-utero viral infection. Thankfully the eye didn’t need to be removed, but he will require lubricating eye drops long term since his tear duct on his affected eye doesn’t function normally.

FOSTER UPDATE: August 10, 2024
“Figaro is a little firecracker! He is confident and friendly with people, other cats, and even dogs (after a calm intro). He loves to play, and is a pro at the zoomies! He doesn’t mind being held, but looses interest quickly – I suspect once he gets a bit older he’d be a pretty snuggly little guy. His left eye is malformed and blind, but all he needs is a daily eye-drop to keep it lubricated and healthy (and he’s becoming a little pro at tolerating his drops). Anyone would be lucky to add this little guy to their family!”
