Cooper
Cooper came to Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. We were happy yo get this sweet, older boy out of shelter when a loving foster home opened up. At the vet visit on his rescue day, our vet let us know that Cooper was showing signs of kidney disease, and was in great need of dental surgery. Cooper was started on special food and medication for the kidney disease and he did great in his foster home over the next few months while we waited for his health to get to the point where he could get the dental surgery he so desperately needed. After many more vet visits, tests, a potential day of dental surgery, and discussions with our vets, it was eventually decided that Cooper is not well enough to undergo surgery. Factoring in his age, kidney disease and frail body condition, it would be too much of a risk to put him under. He’s now on long-term pain medication for his mouth, and it seems to keep the pain at bay.
Because of all the above mentioned conditions, we have made Cooper a Ladybird permanent resident, which means he’ll stay with his foster family for the remainder of his life, and we will continue to cover the cost of his medical care, food and supplies.
Cooper is a sweet, loving, loyal pup who likes to be near humans, enjoys long walks, and cozy naps. We’re not sure what happened in his past that lead to him ending up in a shelter, but we know that his remaining days will be full of love and safety in his forever foster home.
We love you, Cooper!
