Wednesday
* Wednesday and Pugsley found their forever home together with a lovely family! Yay! *
Wednesday and Pugsley‘s mother was pregnant with them when she was found as a stray. The babies were born May 13/24. The finder found the mom rabbit a home, and the babies were brought to Hamilton Animal Services when they were weened.
Wednesday and Pugsley were put into separate cages and they stayed at the shelter for some time before a foster home opened up and we were able to take them in. We had the bunnies fixed on their rescue day and they were put into pens right next to each other in their foster home. They would run up and down the pen together, and even groom each other’s noses through the pen bars. It was very sweet to see. After an appropriate amount of time passed for them to heal from their surgeries, Wednesday and Pugsley were reintroduced following appropriate guidelines, and they bonded immediately! It was almost like they had never been away from each other. So sweet!
These adorable, tiny rabbits are now ready to find their forever home together.
Wednesday and Pugsley have a lot of room in their enclosures, and they take advantage of every bit of it. They run, jump, and explore the day away, and then flop for naps. They use the litter box like champs, and only the occasional poo will be found around the enclosure. Wednesday and Pugsley’s foster family are doing their best to help get the bunnies get over their shyness, and they’re getting braver every day. They are curious about the cats in their foster home, who they can see through their enclosure bars, but they have not been introduced to dogs or any other animals. A quiet home with no small children would be best for them, as they’re still quite frightened of fast movement and loud noises. They’re the cutest little bunnies, and they’ll be wonderful companions for the right home.
* Wednesday has been vaccinated against Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHDV).
Rabbits need lots of space…
Our fostered rabbits are housed in x-pens or similar enclosures so they have lots of room to move around when they aren’t out for floor time. Some of our rabbits are free range in their foster home.
Commercially made pet store rabbit cages are far too small to allow rabbits to stretch out and move around with ease. Here are some examples of great enclosures, and rooms set up for free roaming bunnies.
