Pearl
* APPLICATIONS FOR PEARL ARE CLOSED *
Pearl received a large number of applications, so we have now closed new applications to give us time to go through them all to find the best fit for her. We would like to send a big thank you to everyone who applied! We’re thrilled that so many people choose to adopt.
Pearl ended up at Hamilton Animal Services as a stray and she was not claimed. This poor girl had a mouth full of absolutely rotten teeth, and she was suffering from an eye issue and an ear infection. Despite how she must have been feeling, this sweet old lady had a happy disposition. She hasn’t yet met a human she doesn’t like!
We were more than happy to get Pearl out of the shelter and into a loving foster home. We got Pearl the dental surgery she desperately needed, and now that she’s healed up, this sweet girl is ready for her forever home!
Here’s a note from Pearl’s foster mom:
“Pearl is the absolute sweetest little puggy potato. She is a senior girl and spends most of her day snoozing away. As with all pugs, her favourite thing to do is eat. She will definitely let you know when it is meal time. Pearl can be very vocal while waiting for her food and will continuously bark until she is fed. We believe Pearl is mostly blind and deaf. She learned to navigate our home very quickly. She is able to go up the 2 stairs of the back deck to get into the house but cannot go down stairs. She will need to be monitored around staircases so she doesn’t fall. Pearl does best when she follows a routine. At the end of the day she knows to find her crate (where treats are waiting of course) and sleeps through the night. She is also used to being crated when we are not home. Pearl is house trained and you can tell when she wants to go outside as she will start pacing and wandering around. She has done well in our home with 2 children, 2 cats and 1 other small dog. She would do best in a home with other dogs of similar age and activity level. Our dog is very pushy and Pearl will definitely tell him off when he is intruding on her personal space. Pearl was in rough shape when she was found. She had severe periodontal disease and has had dental surgery to remove all but 6 teeth. She is on softened kibble and canned food twice daily. Pearl suffers from the usual pug medical issues. She has dry eye which requires drops 3 times daily, and is currently being treated for ear infections and a wrinkle infection. She needs a recheck of her ears in a month’s time, and will require her adoptive family to keep up on her grooming and skin care. Pearl has been a joy to have around and we will be very sad to see her go. She would love to find a home where she can be absolutely spoiled rotten and get all the attention she deserves.”
Please adopt Pearl!
