Cheesecake
We rescued Cheesecake from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. Cheesecake was covered in fleas and had severe case of earmites when she came into HAC. She had scratched herself so badly there were open wounds and scabs all over her ears. After a vet visit and some time in her foster home, we thought she was ready to find her forever home. But out of the blue, Cheesecake suddenly stopped eating and became lethargic. We took her to the vet and she had to be hospitalized for quite some time. After many tests, it was discovered Cheesecake had issues with her liver. She was put on medication and seemed to be feeling better. Some months went by where she was feeling good, and then she became ill again. This became a pattern. Cheesecake would be doing great for months at a time, then she would become sick again. Our vets advised us that Cheesecake’s health would likely always be up and down like this, and that there was no cure for her issues. With much discussion with Cheesecake’s foster home, it was decided that because of her health issues, Cheesecake would become a permanent resident and would stay in Ladybird’s care for the remainder of her days.
It’s been tough for Cheesecake’s foster mom, but we’re so thankful Cheesecake has someone to love and care for her and get her to the vet when needed.
It has been very expensive to care for Cheesecake since her rescue. By becoming a monthly donor, you will help us ensure the best care can be provided for Cheesecake, and our other permanent resident animals. Can’t donate monthly? A one time donation will also help. We can only rescue animals like Cheesecake with your help!

Over the past few weeks, our permanent resident Cheesecake’s health has taken a turn for the worse, and she wasn’t responding to the medications or treatments that would normally get her feeling better again. Her quality of life had come to the point of no return. The painful decision to let Cheesecake go was made, and we said goodbye to her today. She passed away warm and loved in the arms of her foster mom.
We want to say thank you out to The Cat Clinic for looking after Cheesecake during her time with us, and a special thank you to Cheesecake’s foster mom for giving her the unconditional love and care she deserved right until the end.
Rest in peace Cheesecake. We’ll never forget you.
