The Ladybird Animal Sanctuary rescued Porsche from Hamilton Animal Control where she ended up as a stray. She was wearing a licence and was microchipped, but the chip was not registered, and the person whose name was on the licence said they had given Porsche away and they didn’t have the new owner’s contact info. She was not doing well in her kennel at Hamilton Animal Control. She was so stressed and scared about being there, she wouldn’t even let us take her photo! Once she was out of the shelter and into her foster home, her true personality could shine through.
Here’s a note from Porsche’s foster home: “There was just something about Porsche that hinted to us that she might be a dog in need of a good tennis ball. We rummaged one out of the closet within an hour of getting home and instantly her eyes lit up, her ears perked up, her tail started wagging and the rest is history for this lovely little lady. Obviously, we didn’t waste any time and quickly learned that not only is she cute, cuddly, and quiet in the house, but she’s a dynamite dog at the dog park!

So far, we have discovered that she loves tennis balls, exploring the park and swimming – about 30 minutes of off leash activity seems to make every day a dream come true for her. Porsche has fit into our daily routines easily, she loves cuddles and belly rubs and she has a very loveable and content personality. She loves to give you a kiss (but only if you ask her to), and if you ask her in a serious voice if she is a good girl, she answers with a little “woof!”. She singlehandedly makes us smile and laugh every day with these cute mannerisms…plus, she has a powerfully adorable head tilt when she thinks she might be getting a treat.

Porsche is great with other dogs, although she would do best in a family with a dog that is not extremely submissive/fearful (Porsche might want to herd them). She knows all her basic commands – in fact, when we come in from a walk and i ask her to sit down, she sits and simultaneously lifts a paw for us to wipe off. Porsche seems truly grateful for a second chance in life, and is happily waiting for an adoptive family to scoop her up!”
