The Ladybird Animal Sanctuary rescued Basil from a high-kill shelter in Laval, Quebec where he was signed over by his owners because they didn’t want him anymore. Basil’s nails had not been cut for a very long time and they had grown so long, they were entangled with each other and he could no longer walk. This was a serious case of neglect.

Surprisingly, other than being a little thin, Basil was fairly healthy otherwise. The staff at the shelter snapped those photos and then immediately cut his nails. He was so relieved!
Thanks to the lovely people at T.E.A.M Cat and Dog Rescue, Basil was delivered to us through a series of volunteer drivers. He came all the way from Quebec to Toronto where we were happy to pick him up!

Basil has now been neutered and he’s settling into his foster home well. He is a very petit bunny, and quite well adjusted, despite the horrible treatment by his previous owners. He enjoys his time out of his pen and is very easy to handle. He deserves a great home where he can be assured that he will never be neglected, and never feel such terrible pain again…

Basil found his forever home with a lovely family!
