Trixie
The Ladybird Animal Sanctuary rescued Trixie from Hamilton Animal Control where she ended up after her elderly owner was no longer able to care for her. She was well cared for by her previous owners, but she needed surgery to remove a couple of benign lumps, and she had some dental work done. Trixie is healed from her surgery and is now ready to find her forever home!
Here’s a note from Trixie’s foster home:
“Meet Trixie (or as we sometimes call her Trixie-poo(dle)), our most recent foster dog! Trixie was surrendered to animal control when her elderly owner was unable to care for her any longer. This deserving and loving little sweetheart has had her life turned upside down, and is happily snuggling up for some love at her foster home until she finds her forever family who will love her to bits for years to come.
As is obvious from her photos and videos, this teddy bear is cute as a button! She is very low maintenance as far as exercise goes – she loves to putter around the backyard sniffing individual blades of glass and watching the coming and going of neighbours. We are glad to report she is not a barker, and other than a few minutes of snoring here and there (hilarious!), we haven’t heard a yip or yap from her since she arrived last weekend, even when people come to the door. She is also potty trained, and after a day or two to establish our routine, hasn’t had any accidents in the house. Trixie doesn’t shed, is hypoallergenic and likes both men and women.
Trixie becomes very attached and connected to her people and is brilliant at explaining how she likes things done if you are willing to “listen” – for example, she likes to have an afternoon nap on the bed but cannot jump up by herself, so she found me in the kitchen, brought me to the bedroom and started twirling at the foot of the bed. Adorable, and we love being able to know her better and what she likes! We have since put some pet stairs by the bed so she can come and go as she likes – it’s her favorite place to go if we’re not home or otherwise busy. Since she is a little bit older, Trix has a few creaks that get stretched out when she wakes up, and she loves a deep body rub/massage any time of day…and honestly, who doesn’t love that!!
If you are looking for a pint size poodle with an barrel of love to give, Trixie is definitely the new family member you’re looking for – we absolutely adore this little gal!”

A note from Trixie’s forever home:
“Since adopting Trixie last Spring, she quickly stole my heart. It took her a little while to come out of her shell, but she’s become a favourite in my community and is often a celebrated guest at dinner parties, road trips and outdoor concerts. She loves her sleep and visiting her best buds, and her terrier boyfriend Finn. Trixie is so well behaved and a joy to be around, I’m forever grateful to Ladybird for bringing her into my life.”

A note from Trixie’s adopter:
“Just wanted to share some very sad news, Trixie passed away in her sleep this week. I took her to get groomed on Saturday, and she seemed pretty stressed and tired after. I went out in the evening, and I thought she was feeling better when I got home, but passed away by the next morning, I think her heart must have just stopped. I think it was pretty peaceful for her, she was with me in bed.
I am so sad!! She was a great little companion and I’ll miss her terribly. I am forever grateful to Ladybird for bringing her into my life.
All the best.
Jen xx”
Rest in peace Trixie. We’re so happy you had a wonderful forever home for your senior years. We’ll always remember you!
