Tessa
The Ladybird Animal Sanctuary rescued Tessa from Hamilton Animal Control. Tessa’s owners left her at HAC, saying that they were moving and had no room for her anymore.
Tessa is a very sweet and loving dog. She is housetrained and gets along with everyone she meets.
Our vets say she is in great health, aside from some minor weakness in her back end, which is to be expected for a shepherd of her age. This sweet old girl needs to find her forever home so she can live out her days in love and comfort, and know that she will never be abandoned at a shelter again.
Here’s a note from Tessa’s foster home:
“Positives
-Tessa LOVES being on the bed, she just goes straight to sleep
-Gives morning kisses
-LOVES being on the couch
-She’s patient in the morning until you are ready to get going
-She knows the words poo, pee, outside, walk, ball and car ride.
-LOVES the car
-Tessa is very responsive when called when she’s off lead
-Very friendly with all people
-Can be left alone both at home and in the car when going to the store
-Can touch anywhere on her body without fear or objection. i.e.: nails, ears etc.
-No apparent fear of anything i.e.: Storms etc.
-Very gentle at taking treats from your hand
-LOVES gentle massages
Not so positive
-Barks at most dogs, but tail wags
-Has snapped at another dog over a toy
-Poor road sense
-Prey drive is apparent but not worrisome
Side notes: Over exercising will leave her stiff in the joints that night and onto the next day. A 20 minute walk is fine. Tess doesn’t do stairs. She will have a go when it’s downhill and seems ok, but she won’t even try more than one or two going up, and she needs a lift to get into the back seat of the car as well.”
Tessa found her forever home with great people!!
