Sushi
We rescued Sushi from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray.
He’s a super snuggler! His foster mom did a great write up about him:
“Sushi anyone?
Well, what can be said about Sushi, Sush and Sushi mcSush as he is often called? The first thing that sprung to my mind (and heart) upon taking Sushi home after his vet appointment (for neutering) was that it was totally obvious that this cat had been really loved by someone in his short life. As rescuers, foster parents, and animal advocates, we are always baffled how so many animals end up as ‘strays’ at animal control but I was truly shocked and saddened that this is the turn that Sushi’s life took.
It was immediately evident that this precious creature was deeply loved by someone. He is just a super fella. It’s not just the fact that he is friendly and cuddly and good with people it’s much more than that. He must have been cherished and pampered because he is just so comfortable and wanting of human touch and companionship. As soon as I got him home from the vet, he jumped up on the couch next to me and put his paws on my lap. Then he jumped up on my lap and put his paws on my chest. Then he just looked up at me and started fidgeting a bit and I asked him if he wanted up and before I knew it he had literally jumped into my arms and I found myself cradling him. He was resting on my chest and I had my arm under his belly and his legs were just dangling over the sides. He was so content and just lay there like a panther on a tree limb basking in an afternoon breeze. I pet and pet and pet him and he purred and purred and purred and
just closed his eyes and took it all in.
You may think, so what, lots of cats do that but in reality, cats that like to be picked up let alone cradled are not just born that way, they become that way with love and patience and human interest, interaction, and care. I felt sorry for him at first but honestly, I felt sorry for whoever had let him go because he/she made a huge mistake. It is my belief when I meet a cat that is just so drawn to humans that someone in a household loved that companion animal but other another person or persons did not. This always leads to conflict because not everyone in the home is on board when it comes to committing long term to that companion animal so the person that loves it normally gives in and gets rid of the animal in question and I think this is the case with dear Sushi.
Anyway, their loss is going to be your gain because he is a rare lad indeed. He’s already a lap, chest, and cradle cat along with the fact that he will adore snuggling up with you in bed. Offer him part of your pillow and he happily will hunker down beside you and lay his head on his side of the pillow. Offer him your chest and he will sprawl out over you and give you ever so gentle face bumps. His pictures just don’t do him justice (as is the case with most black felines) but he is absolutely beautiful. His fur is so shiny and soft like velvet and he is plush and cuddly. His purr is deep and mellow and he only is vocal when he needs to be which most of the times is to let you know he’s like some lovin please. He is the most chill foster cat my 12 year old son and I have ever had the pleasure to have in our home and my son told me the other day that Sushi is his favourite of all time which is saying a lot cause we have been doing this for 10 years!
He said,’ Mom, I can’t put it into words and I am not sure why completely but Sushi is just my favourite cat ever’.
Sushi did not display any aggression towards my cats or Bubbles his playmate and best buddy. Not one hiss or scratch, nothing. As a matter of fact, not only did he not make any aggressive moves towards the other cats, they didn’t hiss or act funny with him….he came out of quarantine and they just let him be, which is the first time I have ever seen that happen. I have a female calico that likes to posture and even she just looked at him and welcomed him into the fold.
He will thrive in a home where he is loved and praised and adored and cuddled and kissed. He is great with other cats and I’d guess he’d do well with any animal really. He has really taken to his little sidekick Bubbles (also available for adoption). They are constantly by each others sides, traipsing, running, and bounding through the house attacking each other, perfecting their military maneuvers. Sushi is gentle with Bubbles and patiently puts up with Bubbles being a complete pest at times.
They are a dynamic duo (I joke it’s like watching batman and robin foiling crime capers) and if you adopted them together would make a perfect addition to a family with older children with time and love to to give.”
Sushi was adopted to a wonderful person!
