Norton
We rescued Norton from Hamilton Animal Control. Poor Norton had been at HAC since June! He was quite ill when he first came into HAC, and he’s not well socialized. He’s feeling better physically, but he’s still very shy and frightened of human contact.
After some time in his foster home, it was obvious that Norton was not a fan of being handled and was beyond just being frightened. Though he doesn’t bite out of fear, it seems he’s had some trauma in his little life and he is petrified of everything around him. He’s in a large, spacious cage and he loves to bury himself in the bedding and make tunnels to his food and water. He doesn’t come out of his hidey house much, so to save him being constantly terrified, his foster family spends quiet time with him in his cage instead of forcing him to be handled.
We thought it would be best to make Norton a permanent resident, rather than put him through the stress of another change in his already traumatic life.
After almost two years in our care, Norton passed away peacefully of old age. We’re sad he’s gone, but we’re glad we could give him love for his time with us…
