Sky
We rescued Sky from Hamilton Animal Control. Why is her name Sky? Well, because she literally fell from it.
Sky was found on a second floor balcony of a high-rise apartment building in Hamilton. She was clearly injured, so her fall must have been from several storeys up. Hamilton Animal Control was called and Sky was taken to the vet. The vet didn’t do any xrays to know for sure, but they suggested Sky might have a leg fracture, and other minor injuries. They prescribed pain medication and after staying at the clinic for the night, Sky was sent to HAC to wait out her stray time.
A possible owner who lived in the building where Sky was found called HAC and said they would be coming in to claim Sky…but they never showed up.
So…Ladybird rescued Sky and took her straight to the vet. She was alert, eating, playful and purring, though she was in obvious pain when she tried to walk. Our vets xrayed her, and it turns out her back legs are broken right at the knee. One much worse than the other. She had surgery on November 24th to repair the fractures and she’ll be spending some time at the vet before being transferred to her foster home to start her healing and rehabilitation.
We visited Sky at the vet on December 3rd and she’s doing wonderfully! She’s even up and walking! Sky is a staff favourite at the clinic and she purrs it up for everyone she meets. She’ll need a second surgery in a few weeks to remove the screws in the leg with the more severe fracture. Thank you Foxcreek Animal Hospital for taking care of sweet Sky!
