McCartney
McCartney was rescued from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. This handsome boy was very thin and bedraggled when we first rescued him. But his foster mom has done a great job getting him back to a healthy weight and has his coat looking fabulous again!
Here’s a note from McCartney’s foster home:
“McCartney was pretty bedraggled when I first picked him up after his neuter surgery, and you could tell he’d either been severely neglected by his owner or had been living on the mean streets of Hamilton for a while. Based on the size of his head and how thick his neck was, though, it looked like he would normally be a pretty solid cat. Unfortunately, the rest of his scrawny little body did not match his big head and we knew he was in need of a proper diet and some serious TLC. He had patches of fur missing and his coat was quite scraggly. Although he’s gained a bit of weight since that time and his coat is starting to come back, he still looks a bit disheveled….it will just take some more time. He was also very shy at first, but once he came out of his shell he turned out to be one awesome cat. With a proper diet, patience, attention, affection, and lots of love, he has blossomed into a funny little guy with a lovely personality. He’s a real cutie pie….gentle and affectionate….a love-bug extraordinaire! He loves to curl up on our laps for some head scratches while we watch TV, or, if he can’t sit directly on us because of our other cats (lap space is a hot commodity in our household), he will sit on the back of the couch right behind our heads and rest his paws on our shoulders. To say that he loves being around people would be an understatement, as he follows me everywhere! He is a curious little guy and likes to go wherever you are going. I can’t go upstairs or downstairs or in any room (including the bathroom) without him being right beside me or under my feet. As for his interaction with other felines….sadly, our cats are mostly cantankerous with bullying tendencies and not particularly welcoming to interlopers, so McCartney has had to put up with many hisses, growls and swats. He pretty much takes it in stride, though, and although he doesn’t always back down and we’ve definitely seen him engage (there have been some pretty furious standing-on-their-hind-legs boxing matches), it’s never anything serious. He’s not been vicious or aggressive at all, and you can tell that he just wants to play with them and get to know them (by smelling their bums, of course). But alas, our cats are having none of that. McCartney would be great with other cats and/or kids, or even as an only cat (as long as you were prepared to provide him with the proper amount of attention and affection, of course). He’s fairly adaptable with a sweet temperament and would be a great addition to any family.”
McCartney found his forever home with awesome people and a Ladybird adoption alumni cat named Manny to be friends with! Yay!
