Sterling
In May of 2015, we rescued Sterling from Hamilton Animal Control. Poor Sterling was brought into HAC by police when his owner was arrested. Unfortunately, no one came to claim him, despite initial calls to HAC saying someone was making arrangements to do so. We didn’t know what Sterling’s real name was, or anything about him other than he was really, really friendly and diabetic.
We took Sterling straight from HAC to the vet to get his insulin levels straightened out. He then went to a foster home who has lots of experience with diabetic cats. Because of his diabetes and advanced age, Sterling became a permanent resident.
In October 2015, Sterling stopped eating and was losing weight. After a few vet visits, it was discovered he had inoperable cancer and was beginning to suffer the effects. At the advice of our vets, and through many tears, the tough decision was made to have him humanely euthanized. His foster family stayed by his side right to the end.
Though he was only with us for five months, we’re so thankful that Sterling could spend his remaining days in love and comfort with his foster family.
