Mandy
*Mandy found her forever home with lovely people!*
Ladybird rescued Mandy from Hamilton Animal Control. Her story before ending up at HAC is a sad one.
A citizen walking down the street came upon a man sitting outside his house, trying to give away a kitten. The citizen was concerned, as the cat looked like it was in rough shape, so they decided to take her. The man said the kitten had “bitten an electrical chord,” and that’s why she looked the way she did. The citizen took the kitten to Hamilton Animal Control and HAC sent her directly to the vet. The vet reported that Mandy was missing part of the tip of her tongue (which had healed over) and that there was damage to some of her top and bottom teeth. The strangest part…there was a “piece of foreign bone attached to lower canine tooth.” This was not damage caused by chewing on an electrical chord. These were more likely injuries caused by a trauma to Mandy’s face. What really happened to Mandy to cause her such pain, we’ll never know.
Mandy underwent surgery and the damaged teeth and bone were removed. The teeth removed may or may not grow back, as some were baby teeth and some were permanent teeth. If they do grow back, our vet has advised us that they should be removed, as they will likely grow in abnormally and cause Mandy further issues. Without the tip of her tongue, Mandy has a tough time grooming herself, so her foster mom is giving her lots of brushes and dry baths to help her out. Mandy does drool quite a lot due to her missing chunk of bottom jaw and teeth, but she is eating canned food like a champ! She’s a sweet and lovely kitty, despite her rough go in life so far.
Mandy’s foster home is monitoring her closely and we’re hoping she’ll heal from her injuries and surgery without any problems. She’ll be available for adoption when our vets give us the go-ahead.
Welcome sweet Mandy! We’re gonna do our best by you to make sure you never have to go through anything like this again!
