* Felix & Milo have been adopted! Yay!  *

In 2015, we rescued Hayley, Latte, Sunny and Curtis from Hamilton Animal Services where they found themselves as strays. The staff at HAS said these kittens had the worst case of flea infestation they had ever seen. It was so bad, a couple of the kittens became anemic from it. HAS staff treated the fleas with a topical flea solution and we rescued the kittens the next day. The kittens’ foster family did a great job getting them cleaned up and healthy enough to be ready for adoption, and they all found homes.

Sunny and Curtis were adopted together, and their new names became Felix and Milo. They did great in their adoptive home until late 2018 when a blending of the adopter’s family (and the family pets) caused Felix and Milo a great amount of stress. Though they did enjoy the company of the dogs who moved in, they were extremely anxious about the other cats, to the point that they displayed stalking behaviours and urinating outside of the litter box. Felix and Milo never had any litter box issues until these introductions happened. Their adopters tried everything possible to resolve the situation, including designated sleeping spaces, multiple litter boxes on multiple floors of the home, special attention time spent with each cat, adding new cat trees and beds, special food, and multiple tests at the vet….all to no avail.  Felix and Milo were not happy, and the best thing for them was a home where there were no other cats.

We made Felix and Milo available for adoption again in 2019, and they were adopted by a family with one child, but no other animals. The cats did great there until a few months ago when their adopters had a second baby. Felix was very stressed out by this change and he began urinating on the baby’s belongings. Their adopter asked to return them to our care, and here we are today.

Felix and Milo had a vet visit the day they were returned. Milo is in good health, but Felix has clearly been stressed out for a while as he has chewed all the fur from his belly. Their blood test results were perfect. Milo’s urine test was fine, but Felix’s results showed blood in his urine, which is consistent with stress. They’ve both been put on a urinary/calming food, and Felix has been started on medication for the urine issue and to lower his stress level.

These two are super sweet boys. Staff at the vet clinic fell in love with their sweet personalities. They’re very, very bonded to each other, and we are asking that they be adopted together.

Felix and Milo need a forever home with no other animals, no children, and with people who don’t plan on having any children or plan on acquiring new pets in the future. A quiet home with minimal stress would be best for them.
