Archie
We rescued Archie from Hamilton Animal Control where he ended up after his owners signed him over because they were moving. We had him neutered and placed him into a foster home. He’s been doing well there and is now ready to find his forever home!
Here’s a report from Archie’s foster home:
“Archie is a little bunny with a huge personality. He has come a long way since first arriving, becoming a lot more friendly, adventurous, and quite sassy. Though he’s still nervous in new environments, once he has settled in he has no problem declaring himself the boss.
He absolutely loves to explore and find new things to nibble on, so beware of any wires on the ground. Archie doesn’t mind being held for short periods of time, but he’d rather be hopping around your feet. He’ll still watch TV with you though, or help fold the laundry.. or at least sit on the clothes for you 🙂 Archie also *loves* his treats. If he hears the bag crinkle, he will dance in circles or try to climb your leg to get them.
He also gets along very well with my cat and dog. Archie will take turns chasing and being chased, before snuggling down on someone’s paws for a nap. Sometimes he can have a bit of an attitude, but he’s well behaved for any handling, nail trims, etc. Archie is full of energy so he needs space to run, but I guarantee he will make you laugh and smile every day with his antics and sweet personality.”
Archie can be “cage aggressive” if kept in a small environment. Before his rescue, the staff at Hamilton Animal Control had a tough time with him because of this behaviour and he would have been euthanized if we hadn’t rescued him. While still at Animal Control, the staff eventually allowed Archie to have a larger area to spend the majority of his time and he was much happier.
In his foster home, he has a large cage set up with bedding, that is always open. He only uses it as a litter box, and a spot to rest and spend time alone away from the other animals in his foster home. Otherwise, his foster mom has x-pens set up around the cage to give him a large area to hop around when they’re not home, and he has the run of the apartment when his foster people are home. He’ll need at least this type of space in his forever home as well to keep him from becoming aggressive again. Or better yet, if he could be a free range rabbit, he’d be the happiest bunny on earth!
After nine months in foster care, Archie was finally adopted by a wonderful family!
