Iggy
Iggy was in a bad state when we rescued him from Hamilton Animal Control. He was painfully thin, had severe skin issues and was losing the tips of his ears to frostbite. It was obvious Iggy had spent the winter somewhere without shelter or food. The Ladybird Animal Sanctuary rescued him from that high-kill shelter and got him the vet care he so desperately needed. Then Iggy was placed in a foster home and he started his road to recovery.
After just a few short months, Iggy’s skin issues got better and he gained lots of weight back. With help from our veterinarian, Iggy’s foster home did a wonderful job looking after him. We were so happy when Iggy found what we thought was his forever home. But after being in this home for two years, Iggy was returned to Ladybird because his adopter’s situation had changed and they could no longer keep him.
When Iggy was returned, he went back to his original foster home. He wasn’t there for long before he was adopted again! Yay!
A note from Iggy’s forever home:
“I wanted to give you an update on Iggy and let you know he’s doing great! He’s a loving kitty and he’s adjusted really well to the house. He’s gotten over the worst of his skittish behaviour and him and KitKat are the best of friends. They’ve been teaching each other all sorts of things (like how to try and open a door knob with their paws hahaha) and playing together with toys. They just started sleeping together on the couch which has been a new thing in the last few weeks. Super cute! When the squirrels came out in full force for fall, Iggy and KitKat sit and look out the windows in the family room or at the patio doors in the kitchen…you can see how intense they look. Patches (our bunny) has adopted Iggy as his new best friend. If I bring the ball out, Patches and Iggy roll it back and forth. Many nights Iggy will go lie in Patches’ crate or push toys around with him. And as it is getting colder, Iggy has decided that snuggling under a blanket is the way to go. He looks like he’s having the best dream! He’s super sweet!
He’s a super happy cat and we love having him with us. Just thought you’d like to hear how he’s doing!”
December 8th, 2015 – An update from Iggy’s forever home!
“Hi Ladybird!
I wanted to give you a quick update on Iggy since he’s been with us over a year now! He’s such a wonderful kitty! He had to have his teeth out due to the stomatitis as he started to ulcerate inside his mouth…but look at him now. We’ve found a wet and dry food that he does well with his food issues and lack of teeth, and he’s turned into a beautiful, healthy guy.
All his fur has grown back, he put on weight finally, and he’s a super love bug. Him and KitKat play together all the time and sleep together on the bed. We couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful guy. Thanks again for bringing him into our lives. 🙂
Merry Christmas to all of you from both of them!”
