Mumford
Ladybird rescued Mumford from Hamilton Animal Control. Someone brought Mumford into HAC, but instead of talking to the staff about why they were bringing him in, they left him in the lobby and walked out. So…we don’t know anything about his history.
Mumford had some issues with his eyes from the beginning, so HAC staff put him on medication. He would get better for some time, then get worse again. HAC staff did their best to keep his eye issues under control, but because he had been at the shelter for almost two months, wasn’t staying healthy, and would require surgery for his eyes, the decision was made that he would be euthanized. As a last attempt to have him rescued, HAC staff got in touch with Ladybird to let us know about his plight. We immediately got in touch with Dr. Renee Fleming of Guelph Animal Hospital who had previously helped us out with Poppy‘s eye surgery. Dr. Fleming was happy to take Mumford on and try to get him feeling better with the surgery he required. (thank you Dr. Fleming!!)
Mumford had two separate surgeries to correct the eye issue (entropian). He was also neutered and had a broken tooth removed. He tested negative for FIV and FeLV, which is great! After a couple of weeks at the vet clinic, he was feeling well enough to be transferred to his foster home and he’s settled right in! Now, he just needs to find his forever home…
Mumford has one slightly deformed toenail on one of his polydactyl feet. Dr. Fleming chose not to remove it though, as it was not infected or inflamed. He handles nail trims without any hassle so his new owner will need to trim this nail every 4-6 weeks.
Here’s a personality report from Mumford’s foster home:
“Mumford is a sweet kitty and loves human company! He has a very gentle temperament and loves head rubs and belly pets. He also has an amazing skill to build himself sleeping caves out of blankets which he snuggles into to sleep.”
Mumford found his forever home with a lovely family!
